The U.S. Puzzle Championship will start Saturday August 25, 2012 at 1pm ET. Email confirmation (with the 2012 competition URL) has been sent to everyone who has registered for any Team USA event since 2010. Registration is currently open to puzzle solvers world-wide to participate in this online event.
The 2 1/2 hour test will be available all weekend (until Sunday at 6pm ET) for unofficial participation. However if you are looking to qualify for the U.S. team or win the title of U.S. Puzzle Champion, you must start the test on Saturday at 1pm ET.
The results of the US Puzzle Championship will be used to select one new U.S. team member to compete in the World Puzzle Championship in Croatia in early October. The results will also be used by organizers of the Canadian, UK, and Italian teams.
The qualifying test for the U.S. Sudoku Team will be Saturday September 1, 2012 at 1pm ET. The results will be used to select three new team members to compete in the World Sudoku Championship in Croatia in early October. The test format will be the same as in 2011.
Both the World Puzzle Championship and World Sudoku Championship will welcome an official team and an unofficial B-team from each participating country. The selection processes for the U.S. B-teams are to be determined.
