A SUDOKU puzzle consists of a 9x9 array of square cells which is sub-divided into a set of 9 sub-squares, each containing a 3x3 set of cells. Some of the cells contain a single digit in the range 1 to 9. The aim of the puzzle is to fill the remaining cells with a single digit in such a way that every row, every column and every 3x3 sub-square contains a complete set of the digits 1 to 9. In a valid SUDOKU puzzle, there is only one way in which this can be done, and there is no requirement for guess-work.
