XV Sudoku is one of the most popular Sudoku variations and regularly appears in the World Sudoku Championship because of its elegant and logical rules. Along with the standard Sudoku rules, an X between two orthogonally adjacent cells means the digits sum to 10, while a V means they sum to 5. An equally important rule is the converse: if no X or V is shown between two adjacent cells, their sum can be neither 5 nor 10. These additional constraints create many satisfying logical deductions throughout the puzzle.
These two handcrafted XV Sudoku puzzles were created as practice for the World Sudoku Championship 2016. If you enjoy Sudoku variants that combine simple rules with deep logical reasoning, XV Sudoku is an excellent choice and remains one of my favourite Sudoku puzzle types.
