Arrow Sudoku, originally known as Assigned Sums Sudoku, is a fascinating Sudoku variation that appeared in the World Sudoku Championship 2009. Along with the classic Sudoku rules, the digit placed in each circled cell must equal the sum of all the digits lying on the connected arrow path. The digits along an arrow may repeat if they do not violate the normal Sudoku rules for rows, columns, and 3×3 boxes. This simple arithmetic constraint creates many elegant logical deductions throughout the puzzle.
I originally created this puzzle for the Indian team practice before the 2009 World Sudoku Championship. Today, Arrow Sudoku has become one of the most popular Sudoku variants because it combines classic Sudoku logic with simple addition, making every puzzle both challenging and enjoyable to solve.
