This puzzle was part of the World Sudoku Championship 2009 (Puzzle L5) as Diagonal Neighbours Sudoku, and I created today's puzzle during that time for the practice of the Indian Sudoku team. In fact, at that time I created two puzzles of this type. One was published with the title Neighbours Sudoku (Fun With Sudoku #19), and this one was unpublished for a long time. So, publishing this Sudoku after a gap of more than 5 years from the day I created this Sudoku.
Some weeks back, Neighbours Sudoku was also featured on the Fed-Sudoku website as part of Ketek's Cup.
