Sudoku Mahabharat 2015 Final was over yesterday. I will write my experience in this championship soon.
Now, coming to the current Sudoku, the name "Battenburg Sudoku" comes from Battenburg cakes, which form a checkerboard pattern. Similar to this Battenburg Sudoku, there is a checkerboard pattern whenever two odd numbers and two even numbers come together on diagonals. This Sudoku type has appeared in many Sudoku championships in the past. This current Sudoku puzzle that I am posting now is not a very good design, as neither the given numbers nor the Battenburg pattern is symmetrical. However, this puzzle has a good logical solve path, and I avoided giving more hints for this Sudoku to make the given hints symmetrical, as it was breaking the logical flow. I will try to create some more Sudokus of this type later with a better design.
This Battenburg Sudoku I am posting as the 53rd Sudoku in the Fun With Sudoku Series. Can you solve this Battenburg Sudoku puzzle?
Rules of Battenburg Sudoku
Classic Sudoku Rules apply. Additionally, everywhere, if 2 odd and 2 even digits form a 2x2 checkerboard pattern, a Battenburg marking is given; i.e., if for any 2x2 cells two odd and two even numbers come at diagonals to each other, then a Battenburg marking is given.
