501 , because 4^m is 500 by dividing 2000 by 4 from the first equation

Can you explain how did we got the answer"501".

Start by changing x=4^m +1 into x-1=4^m

Next substitute the LH side and RH side of the equation "2000=4^(m+1) into the LH and RH sides of the previous equation:
(x-1)/(2000)=(4^m)/(4^(m+1))

The exponent laws state that: (b^n)/(b^m)=b^(n-m)

If we apply this law to our equation it simplifies to:
(x-1)/2000=4^(-1)
(x-1)/2000=1/4
x-1=500
x=501
