Looking for a Killer Sudoku with an extra layer of mystery? Letter Killer Sudoku replaces the usual cage totals with letters that each represent a different digit from 1 to 9. After decoding the letters, the dotted cages follow the normal Killer Sudoku rule that the digits inside each cage must add up to the corresponding total, without repeating any digit. These additional deductions make the puzzle both challenging and enjoyable.
Originally created for practice before the Sudoku Grand Prix Championship, this handcrafted puzzle demonstrates how a simple change in notation can transform a familiar Sudoku variant into a fresh logical challenge.
Rules of the Letter Killer Sudoku
Classic Sudoku Rules apply. Additionally, the sum of the digits within each cage (dotted subarea) equals the number represented by the letter or group of letters given in the top left corner of that subarea. No digit can repeat in each subarea. Each letter A through I corresponds to a different digit 1 through 9.
