Meet TREN, a logic puzzle that started in major international championships. This puzzle type appeared at the Oğuz Atay Puzzle Contest (OAPC), showing that it's respected by serious puzzle players. TREN puzzles are very logical and require careful thinking. TREN offers something different from other logic puzzles because it combines placement with movement rules.
TREN works by placing blocks of different sizes in a grid. Each block is either 1x2 or 1x3. Numbers in the grid tell you how many moves each block can make. Blocks only move along their short edge direction. You need to figure out where to place blocks and how many times to move them. This puzzle teaches spatial reasoning and logical planning. Solving TREN puzzles helps develop problem-solving skills and patience.
Rules of the TREN puzzle
Locate some blocks in the grid, having the size of either 1x2 or 1x3. Each number in the grid should be part of a block, indicating the number of possible movements of the block. Blocks can only move in the direction of their short edge.
