Pairs Sudoku is a fascinating Sudoku variation that first appeared in the World Sudoku Championship 2009. Along with the classic Sudoku rules, cells marked with the same letter contain the same ordered pair of digits. Each letter represents one unique pair, and no two different letters can represent the same pair. The order of the digits is important and must remain the same wherever that letter appears. These additional clues create many elegant logical deductions throughout the puzzle.
I originally created this puzzle for the Indian team while preparing for the 2009 World Sudoku Championship. The combination of classic Sudoku logic and unique pair relationships makes this handcrafted puzzle both challenging and enjoyable for Sudoku enthusiasts who like exploring creative Sudoku variants.
Rules of the Pairs Sudoku
Classic Sudoku Rules apply. Additionally, marked indexed cells (with letters) contain unique pairs of digits. One index represents one unique pair that does not occur anywhere else. The order of the digits in a pair must not be changed.
