This puzzle is very special to me. The Opposite Edge Sum Sudoku was the very first new Sudoku variation I ever created, back in 2010. It started my journey into making new Sudoku types. Since then, I have created many more Sudoku variants. It was designed to give a simple introduction to this new Sudoku type. I first posted it in May 2010, and now I'm reposting it as the 30th puzzle in the Fun With Sudoku Series.
The rules are simple. You solve it like a normal 9x9 Sudoku. Each row, column, and 3x3 box must have numbers 1 to 9. The twist is the numbers outside the grid. They show the sum of the digits in the opposite edge cells of that row or column. This makes the puzzle a fun and interesting challenge. Give it a try and see how it works.
Rules of the Opposite Edge Sum Sudoku
Classic Sudoku Rules apply. Additionally, digits given outside indicate the sum of the digits appearing in the opposite-edge cells.
