Fortress Sudoku is an enjoyable Sudoku variation that adds an interesting constraint to the classic Sudoku puzzle. Along with the standard Sudoku rules, every shaded cell must contain a digit greater than all of its orthogonally adjacent white cells. This simple-looking rule creates many new logical deductions and changes the way candidates are eliminated throughout the puzzle. The additional constraint blends naturally with classic Sudoku techniques and offers a fresh challenge for Sudoku enthusiasts of all skill levels.
This Sudoku variation is closely related to the Rich Neighbours Sudoku that I had created earlier. After discussions during puzzle testing, I realized that the same concept was already known as Fortress Sudoku, so I adopted the established name. If you enjoy exploring creative Sudoku variants, this handcrafted puzzle is sure to provide an entertaining and rewarding solving experience.
This Sudoku puzzle is my 67th contribution to the Daily Sudoku League. Can you solve this Fortress Sudoku puzzle?
